Barcelona to Montpellier

Sunday 8th June
Today we are packing up. Will definitely be back to Barcelona some time. A great city.
We have the most delicious French breakfast and lovely coffee before heading to train station. Chocolate croissants are to die for. Not so good for waistline. Luckily we are doing plenty of walking!

It's 3 hours in the train to our next stop - Montpellier - our gateway to the South.
We get checked into hotel about 4.30pm and as usual set off to explore.
This city is set up for pedestrians! Especially in the Comedie area where we are staying. There are tunnels for cars underground and also underground parking and a great tram system.
We take a tram out and walk back to see some sights. There are lots of squares with restaurants and live music throughout the older part of the city.

The Town Square

The Opera House

A lot of the cities have Roman and Medieval ties
One of the little old buildings on the edge of the gardens selling ice creams - cute.
This fountain is at the beginning of the botanical gardens which are apparently the oldest in France.

Gorgeous little, narrow lanes

The Opera house at night. The sky is so blue at sunset. Stunning.

Unfortunately we're a bit late for happy hour, but settle in for a drink and a bite to eat .
Early night tonight ready to hit the road early tomorrow when we pick another car up.
