Another beautiful day. We head off towards Vis - another island, on the way stopping at the Blue Caves. It's two, hours to get there.
We dock and the hop on a little boat to head to the caves. We are lucky today, the tide and weather are perfect.
The cave is tiny we have to duck actually sit right down in the little boat to be able to get in.
We certainly were lucky as after the last boat in our group went through trips were closed for the day!
We motored on towards Vis to stop in a bay for a swim stop before mooring later in the afternoon, about 3.
Vis was the military headquarters of Tito in the Yugoslavian wars. There are heaps of secret tunnels and miltary spots around the island.
One site of major note is the Hummer tunnel that stored submarines. It can fit 4 or 5 submarines in it.
We stopped in a lovely bay for a swim. An ideal spot to give paddle boarding a go too.
The sea is pretty flat too.
We didn't do too badly for first timers - well I didn't fall off
The view as we come into Vis Town. About 3500 live on the island..
Once docked we head into town. We have a few hours until it's dark do we decide to hire a scooter and do a circuit of the island . On the opposite side to Vis Town is Komiza - a little fishing village.
The island is known for its wine also.
The 50cc struggled a bit up the hills, which were pretty steep. At some points probably could have run faster! We later found out that all the motors are governed to only go 50km.
Pretty
The Cathedral
The views from the top of the island.
The villages - vineyards and olive groves
Not too much sand around . The beaches are fairly rocky, but still lovely spots all around the island.
Really is a picturesque little town. Hard not to,love these places. So beautiful
There's more boats along the foreshore here than in Hvar, but it's not the party scene that Hvar is.Just gorgeous . We had a delicious dinner at a restaurant called Pojoda - very traditional Croatian food. Fresh seafood and vegetables. Devine.
